The City of Burnaby required a multi-zone audio system for the Burnaby Lake Sports Complex West Fields capable of delivering clear, intelligible sound across multiple outdoor playing fields, spectator areas, and interior support spaces. The system needed to support announcements, paging, background music, and special events while remaining intuitive for staff and resilient in a high-use municipal environment.
LTS designed and implemented a centralized, networked audio solution emphasizing even coverage, independent zone control, system redundancy, and long-term reliability. Central DSP processing and tablet-based control allow staff to manage multiple fields and facility zones efficiently from fixed locations or while moving throughout the site.
Infrastructure
Built on a centralized, networked infrastructure designed to provide reliable system control, simplified operation, and long-term serviceability across the entire facility.
- Biamp Tesira Forte (12 inputs / 8 outputs) — Central DSP providing audio routing, zone control, EQ, dynamics, and overall system management for the entire facility
- Custom Extron iPad Control Software — Purpose-built control interface allowing non-technical staff to easily manage audio across multiple zones
- iPad Control Stations (Fixed & Portable) — Multiple 15″ iPads deployed in offices, tower locations, and as a wireless roaming controller for on-field audio control
- UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) — Provides power conditioning and system protection to maintain stability during power interruptions
- Structured Cabling & Infrastructure — CAT6 networking, multi-conductor audio cabling, conduit, connectors, and installation hardware designed for long-term serviceability
Audio
Engineered to deliver clear, intelligible sound across multiple outdoor fields and interior spaces, with independent zone control and consistent performance in a high-use environment.
- Community R1 High-Mid Loudspeakers — High-output loudspeakers deployed across multiple field zones to ensure intelligible announcements and even outdoor coverage
- Community R.5 High-Mid Loudspeakers — Compact loudspeakers used in targeted areas such as bleachers and secondary zones requiring controlled dispersion
- Dynacord C1800FDI & L1800DI Network Amplifiers — Professional-grade amplification providing reliable power and network monitoring for outdoor and spectator zones
- Denon Multi-Channel Amplifiers — Dedicated amplification supporting interior spaces including clubhouse and support areas
- Shure QLXD Digital Wireless Microphones — Wireless microphone systems for announcements, ceremonies, and live event use with high RF stability and audio clarity
- Network Audio Streamer — High-resolution streaming source providing background music and internet radio for facility-wide playback
Outdoor Enclosures
Critical equipment deployed directly on the field using weather-rated enclosures, ensuring reliable operation, environmental protection, and service access in outdoor conditions.
- Outdoor Ventilation Rack Cabinet — Weather-rated outdoor enclosure deployed on the field to securely house critical audio equipment and protect it from environmental exposure
- Integrated Environmental Protection — Sealed, climate-managed design ensures reliable year-round operation despite temperature changes and outdoor conditions
- Rugged, Serviceable Field Deployment — Industrial-grade construction with secure access allows safe maintenance and long-term durability in a public municipal environment
